Pray and Journey with us
"Prayer is simple, accessible to all, and yet indispensable … In prayer, we learn to see God at work in our world and open our lives to God’s transforming love."
Prayer is powerful. God is at work through the Church to bring renewal to creation and a world free of poverty.
Join us as we pray for our partners, their communities around the world, and God’s ongoing work of justice.
Here you will find regular prayer updates. Thank you for praying with us.
Reflections

Hope Arrives
Anglican Overseas Aid works toward a world that is renewed and restored as God intends it to be, upholding dignity, justice and fullness of life for people experiencing poverty and marginalisation.
This Advent, we invite you to journey with us through Hope Arrives, a four-week study written by Rev. Tim Johnson. The guide explores the deep biblical promise of hope that runs through Scripture, from the prophets who longed for light in dark times, to Mary’s faithful obedience, to the quiet arrival of Jesus in Bethlehem, and the future hope we share in God’s renewal of all things.
Each week pairs a theological reflection with a story from one of AOA’s partner communities. These stories reveal hope taking root in places facing poverty, injustice and environmental challenge. Together they encourage us to wait actively, pray expectantly and live as people shaped by Christ’s coming kingdom.
We pray this Advent resource enriches your preparation for Christmas and invites you deeper into God’s story of hope for the world.

Praying for our partners
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer Romans 12:12
Anglican Church Melanesia, Vanuatu
(Project leader: Ethel George)
Compassionate Lord, we give thanks for the dedicated work of the team in Vanuatu. Natural disasters weave through the everyday lives of those who reside on these islands. We ask that you strengthen the minds of the people through mental health first aid training so they can face the obstacles that continue to confront them.
Spafford Children’s Center, East Jerusalem
(CEO: Shahd Souri)
Give thanks for the work that Spafford is doing for children who have experienced trauma. They have become recognised as a leader in trauma treatment. They are now reaching out to Palestinian schools in Jerusalem to share strategies that can assist teachers and administrators who are responsible for helping traumatised children learn and grow. Please pray for this fantastic program and those who lead it. Give the program's leaders and staff within the school knowledge, wisdom and strength as they work with children who live under incredibly challenging circumstances.
PNKS, Cambodia
(Program Development Manager: Mr Leak Chowan)
Merciful God, we pray for your people in northern Cambodia. They rely heavily on the natural environment for their livelihoods, which are now under threat due to logging and environmental damage. We give thanks that PNKS is working with people to forge new paths by developing community groups that promote diversified livelihoods and climate-smart agriculture. Equip them in their mission and provide them with strength, wisdom, and insight.
Australia
Give thanks for the combined school service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on July 25th. AOA was able to share the work of our partner in Kenya with Anglican School Students, which was very well received. Please pray that the young people continue to stay engaged in the work of our partners and stay inspired to make a difference in God’s world.
Season of Creation has begun, when the ecumenical church comes together in prayer and action to protect our common home. Please spend time praying for God’s Creation, that leaders and individuals will take more action to safeguard, sustain and renew our world.
