EAA Myanmar Earthquake Appeal
3,706 people have been confirmed dead and 5,017 injured in Myanmar.

On Friday, March 28, 2025, Myanmar experienced its strongest earthquake ever recorded, with a magnitude of 7.7, followed by strong aftershocks measuring 6.4. The earthquake's impact was felt as far as China and Thailand.
According to UN and government reports, 3,706 people have been killed and thousands more injured in Myanmar. The US Geological Survey estimates the death toll could exceed 10,000. A shortage of heavy machinery is hindering rescue efforts.
Mandalay state, with a population of around 1.2 million, is one of the worst affected areas, with almost the entire state severely impacted.
The earthquake has caused extensive damage across multiple sectors. Healthcare facilities are overwhelmed, with hospitals suffering structural damage and struggling to accommodate the growing number of casualties. Emergency medical assistance is urgently needed as healthcare facilities are stretched beyond capacity.
Displacement is a major concern, particularly in Mandalay and surrounding townships, where emergency shelters are critically needed. Food and water shortages are severe, especially in Sagaing and Magway, necessitating immediate humanitarian aid.
Vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women, require prioritised assistance. Additionally, the mental health toll on affected populations is severe, with a pressing need for psychosocial support services to help communities cope with trauma.
Your support will not only help in the immediate aftermath but also aid in the long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts.
AOA will be working, as part of the EAA Myanmar Earthquake Appeal, through its ACT Alliance partner, Christian Aid. The initial focus will be on the distribution of food, water, and shelter, prioritising the hardest-hit regions, including Mandalay and Sagaing urban areas.
