The Anglican Diocese of Nampula, Mozambique

Anglican Overseas Aid (AOA) partners with the Diocese of Nampula, Mozambique, which was inaugurated in 2019. Commencing in 2010, AOA’s partnership previously fell under the guardianship of the Diocese of Niassa, with a commitment to support an extensive network of community volunteers called ‘Equipas de Vida’ or Life Teams.

The Diocese of Nampula is the third Anglican diocese of Mozambique, a part of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. The development project areas are based in the Nampula (north-east) and Cabo Delgado (northernmost) provinces of the country.

The Diocese of Nampula is dedicated to improving the lives of people living in these regions, particularly those most isolated or vulnerable, including women and people living with a disability. The diocese focuses on improving access to clean water and sanitation and improving basic health and well-being. With civil conflict in recent years, including mass displacement, the diocese also focuses on peacebuilding, climate-adapted livelihoods and food security.
