Ponleu Ney Kdey Sangkhum
AOA is proud to partner with Ponleu Ney Kdey Sangkhum (PNKS), an organisation dedicated to empowering Cambodian communities towards greater resilience, especially among the most vulnerable. Through establishing Community-led Development groups in 27 villages, PNKS enhances the leadership skills and livelihoods of community members.
AOA is working with PNKS on a program focusing on the indigenous Kuy people, who reside in Cambodia’s most impoverished regions and rely heavily on the natural environment for their livelihoods. This environment is under threat from logging, overuse and environmental damage. PNKS’s collaboration with committed community members via Community-led Development and forestry management groups addresses the unique developmental challenges faced by the Kuy people, bolstering community leadership, project management, climate-smart agriculture, and disaster risk reduction efforts. They also focus on education, improving livelihoods, peacebuilding and health.
AOA and PNKS, with these communities, are taking steps towards sustainable development, ensuring Kuy culture is maintained, valued and revitalised for future generations.
