Light the path out of poverty with your legacy.
A gift in your Will to Anglican Overseas Aid will transform lives for generations to come.
A life free of poverty starts with your generosity, inspired by the love and selflessness of Christ. When the odds are stacked against people in poverty, the legacy you leave will help them engage their challenges with hope.
How can a life of faith create a legacy?
As followers of Christ, we are called to embody his teachings of love, compassion, and justice. Throughout his ministry, Jesus demonstrated a deep concern for the marginalised and vulnerable, urging us to care for the poor and needy as an expression of our faith.
The alignment between our belief in Christ and our duty to care for people living in poverty is not only evident in numerous biblical commands but also rooted in the very essence of his teachings.
In Luke 10:27, Jesus teaches us to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind,” and to “love your neighbour as yourself.”
This commandment underscores the interconnectedness of our love for God and our love for others, emphasising the importance of recognising the inherent dignity and worth of every human being.
Jesus’ tangible love for the poor and marginalised is evident throughout the Gospels, as he healed the sick, fed the hungry, and offered hope to the oppressed.
By following his example and prioritising the needs of the least among us, we honour his teachings and continue his mission of love and solidarity with the marginalised.
Caring for people living in poverty is not merely a moral obligation but a spiritual imperative for followers of Jesus Christ. It is a tangible expression of our faith in action, reflecting our commitment to living out the values of the Gospel and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
As we align our actions with our beliefs, we honour the legacy of Jesus and fulfill our calling to be
his hands and feet in the world.
An opportunity to share
A Will can provide an opportunity to share with family and friends the values our lives are built upon and encourage others to live lives of generosity as God directs them.
How can you do this?
Talk about why you give. Others might know that you support your church, AOA and other causes, but do they know why? Sharing your choices with others doesn’t need to mean providing financial details, but it's about sharing your hopes and values.
We recommend you consult a solicitor to help you draft your bequest. This is the best way to ensure that your intentions are accurately recorded and are legally binding.
You, too, can leave a lasting, life-changing legacy. Your gift can help transform the lives of people in great need, no matter how large or small. For a confidential, no-obligation discussion to explore the possibility of including AOA in your will, please contact us at (03) 9495 6100 or aoa@anglicanoverseasaid.org.au.
