Were You There?
A Lenten Reflection

It is an opportunity to walk alongside Jesus, retracing His steps through the Passion and meditating on the profound love that led Him to the cross.

This year, Anglican Overseas Aid and Mothers Union Australia invite you to embark on a unique Lenten journey with the theme Were You There? This special collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to advancing dignity, equality, and inclusion for those experiencing poverty and marginalisation.

We hope this series inspires deep reflection, meaningful prayer, and tangible action within your faith community. Drawing inspiration from the poignant African-American spiritual, it invites us to stand among the witnesses of Jesus' final days.

Each week, we’ll reflect on the lives of those who played a role in the Passion story, from Pontius Pilate to Mary Magdalene. Through their stories, we’ll uncover lessons of faith, courage, and the transformative power of God’s love.

Through these reflections, we are called to examine how we respond to moments of challenge, injustice, and faith in our own lives.
