Over the past few weeks, civilians have been killed in drone attacks and fighter jet bombings in Ethiopia. We join our partner in praying for peace and stability.
War has resumed in Tigray and other parts of northern Ethiopia, including the Afar and Amhara regions.
Widespread looting and lawlessness, alongside disruptions to banking, transport and electricity, made daily life extremely difficult. Telephone communications were also cut off, across Tigray and much of northern Ethiopia for a period. Essential services have since resumed.
‘Thankfully, the situation has begun to improve, following the [calming] of most areas where the fighting had been taking place,’ The Reverend Gidey shares.
He is the director of the Ethiopian Anglican Church Social and Development Organisation, AOA’s partner. We thank God that all staff and team members are safe.
‘We sincerely hope that peace and stability will return to Tigray soon,’ Gidey says.
Please join us in praying for the people of northern Ethiopia, using the prayer card below.
