From 1 September to 4 October, churches around the world observe the Season of Creation, a time to pray, reflect and act for our common home. We invite and encourage churches to take part and take simple steps together.
This year's theme
The theme is Peace with Creation, drawn from Isaiah 32:14-18. It invites churches to renew right relationships with God, neighbour and the natural world, and to practise justice that helps people and ecosystems flourish.
We pursue peace alongside our global partners, centring dignity, equality and inclusion with a particular focus on gender and climate justice.
Our vision is to see Anglican communities working together for God’s renewed creation, free of poverty.
Three ways your church can lead on climate
Listen and learn
Make space for Scripture, stories and prayer that place creation care and climate justice at the heart of discipleship.
→ Host a short forum after a service or begin a creation care Bible study. Include a weekly prayer for people most affected by climate impacts.
Connect advocacy with discipleship
Treat advocacy as part of creation care, an expression of neighbour-love in public. Focus on fair, practical policies that reduce emissions, protect nature and support communities adapting to change.
→ Write to your MP with one clear ask centred on climate justice, and name one practice your church is changing this month (energy, waste or procurement).
Stand with frontline communities
Stand alongside people facing the sharpest effects of climate change through locally led, dignity-affirming work.
→ Support climate-resilient programs with our global partners. Give as you are able, include them in prayer, and share one short update so your congregation can see progress over time.
Start where you are and take one step together as a church. You can find prayers, studies and liturgies in the Season of Creation resources.
