The response to our End of Financial Year Appeal has been wonderful.
As well as featuring Mrs Yin Yin from Myanmar (pictured left), you will recall that the front cover of our appeal brochure featured Mercy, a mother of two from Kenya. Her story is one of hope arising out of tragedy. It is the type of transformation we love to see in the communities we work with.
We were so encouraged by Mercy’s story that we wanted to feature it, and you responded in kind. We have so far managed to raise more money than last year, and the appeal is still open if you wish to donate.
As a result of the funding we receive from the Australian Government for our work in Kenya and other countries, your donations to our End of Financial Year Appeal will have five times the impact of other donations. That is because, for every five dollars the Australian Government gives us, we need to raise a dollar ourselves. So, the more money we are able to raise now, the more we will receive from the Australian Government next year and in future years, up to the limit of the amount we receive from the Government.
