The Women’s Health and Wellbeing program is implemented by the Ahli Arab Hospital (AAH) in Gaza.
Anglican Overseas Aid has been partnering with AAH to improve breast screening and breast cancer awareness. Specifically, the program sought to achieve three main outcomes:
1. Vulnerable women access efficient, effective breast screening, referrals, diagnostic services, and targeted surgical procedures through AAH.
2. A strong network, centred on CBOs, collaborates to strengthen public awareness, support health-seeking behaviours, and support community-based responses to breast cancer.
3. Women with disabilities and women in difficult contexts are centrally involved through prioritising outreach and support in seeking breast cancer services.
The project has been funded by the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) for its first 3 years, and donations from the Australian public throughout the entire program.
As the evaluation shows, the program has been successful in many areas and achieved significant outcomes.
