Renewed violence displaces thousands in South Sudan

July 19, 2016

The Episcopal Church of South Sudan & Sudan has found itself offering sanctuary and relief to thousands of people who have flocked to their churches to escape renewed fighting in South Sudan.

SUDRA (the relief and development agency of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan & Sudan) has responded by providing food, water, shelter, counselling, and other non-food items, such as hygiene products.

Anglican Overseas Aid has committed $10,000 from its Rapid Response Emergency Fund to help SUDRA assist those seeking help.

Church leaders in South Sudan are asking people around the world to pray for peace and security in South Sudan, as they also urge full implementation of the peace agreement by all parties involved in the civil conflict.
