Help Fight Famine campaign secures increased funding

This week we have welcomed another announcement from the Australian Government to address food security in some of the worst hunger hotspots.
On Saturday, a further package of $25 million was announced by Minister Wong, Minister Conroy and Assistant Minister Watts.

Of the $25 million, $15 million will be directed to the Horn of Africa with $5 million directed to Pakistan and another $5 million to Yemen.

The funds will go towards providing food, water and other essential support. We continue to advocate for $150 million in urgent famine relief but this is another good step in the right direction.

Our CEO Jo Knight visited Members of Parliament with Anglican women leaders as part of the Micah Fight Famine delegation in September 2022 – calling for a $150m famine prevention package.
