     Title: Robin Hood Tax Roundup

Last month, John Christensen of the Tax Justice Network gave a series of presentations at Uniting Church Pitt St Centre. You can view the first of the presentations below, and the remainder on YouTube.

So far, 1024 Parliamentarians worldwide have signed the International Parliamentarians Declaration for Financial Transaction Taxes. In this group are six members of the Australian Greens and one Australian Independent Senator.

On 25^th October, the European Parliament voted in high favour of a resolution calling on the G20 to conclude discussion on a global Financial Transactions Tax, and has the support of the Holy See, the Episcopal jurisdiction of the Catholic Church in Rome. Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Vatican have both released media statements calling on G20 to implement a Financial Transactions Tax. Letters have been written to both Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Treasurer Wayne Swan from a number of signatories representing worldwide organisations, asking them to supporting the Financial Transactions Tax at the G20 Leaders Summit in France in November 2011.
